Adelaide Fringe Inc.

In February and March of every year, Adelaide Fringe Inc presents an internationally renowned, open-access, three week arts festival for artists to present their work and audiences to engage and interact with the arts.

To be a part of the Adelaide Fringe program, artists pay a one-off registration fee to the Fringe as well as pay the presentation costs of their performance/season/event/exhibition.

To help participating artists present their work, the Adelaide Fringe provides information and wherever possible facilitates. There are also many opportunities for participation and promotion through Adelaide Fringe initiatives such as the much celebrated Opening Night Party and Fringe Family Weekend.

The first Adelaide Fringe was in 1960, a few artists took exception to the exclusion of many artists from the curated Adelaide Festival of Arts and staged their own event. From these humble beginnings, the Fringe grew and grew…and grew and then became an incorporated association in 1975. To this day it continues to grow.

Today, the Fringe is an undisputed yearly presence in Adelaide. Although the Fringe and Festival are inextricably linked, they are two completely separate operating organisations with different philosophies and intent. In 2004, WOMADelaide joined in the fun – normally staged in the odd years (what do you mean odd?) it was announced in 2003 that it would be an annual event.  Together when all three events are on, they create an exhilarating buzz across the city. Go Adelaide!
