Adelaide Fringe Here... The Poster has Landed
10/11/2009

The 2010 Adelaide Fringe poster was launched this morning in spectacular style at Adelaide Event and Exhibition Centre.

“Over the last fifty years Adelaide Fringe has become an important destination for artists and audiences,” said Christie Anthoney, Fringe Director.

“The astronaut character really suits the Fringe, bold and entertaining but at the same time representing the massive effort that artists put in every year. Adelaide Fringe has grown into one of the most fantastic cultural events in the world and 2010 is going to be a cracker,” said Christie.

Poster competition winner David Capriotti explained the design is intended to capture the iconic nature of the Fringe. “I came up with the idea of a tutu wearing astronaut because it illustrates how something everyday and familiar, like our city, is completely transformed when the Adelaide Fringe is on.”

Minister assisting the Premier in the Arts John Hill said, “It's great to see the Fringe at 50 still acting like a teenager - this year's astronaut poster is even more 'far out' than usual.”

In a move to meet expected high demand for Adelaide Fringe tickets before the guide is available, ticket gift vouchers are available for sale from today through adelaidefringe.com.au
