Fringe Parade Returns to City Streets
1/08/2008
Traditionally attracting crowds of more than 100,000 people,  the Fringe Parade will return to the City streets to mark the opening of the Adelaide Fringe on Friday 27 February, 2009.

Reinvigorated with the theme of Smoke and Mirrors, the precise parade route is still under wraps, but it will take place in the East End of the City.

“We are absolutely delighted to be bringing back Adelaide’s party night! We promise it will be a vibrant spectacle of free Fringe excitement,” said Adelaide Fringe Director Christie Anthoney.

“The parade is one of the highlights of the Fringe calendar, transforming the streets into a sea of buzzing energy in the style that Fringe goers know and love. There will be a touch of showbiz, plenty of unbridled energy and a few additional surprises just to keep people guessing,” she said.

“We’d like to acknowledge the Adelaide City Council for their increased funding which has assisted us in bringing back this iconic event to the people of Adelaide,” CEO Sandy Verschoor said.

Importantly participation in the Fringe Parade is open to anyone – so long as you come to workshops and rehearsals. Groups and organisations are invited to join hundreds of artists to come and build extraordinary creations to parade on the night.
