Adelaide Fringe is calling on artists and graphic designers around Australia and beyond to submit designs for the 2015 Poster Competition.
The theme for this year’s Poster Competition is ‘Experience Something New’. Audiences at next year’s Fringe will be encouraged to discover unknown talent and go and experience something new and different.
We are looking for an original poster design that is surreal, illogical, absurd or an expression of absolute nonsense. The winning design will be incorporated into the official branding and marketing material for the 2015 Adelaide Fringe, exposing the lucky winner’s poster to an audience of over 1.9 million. The winner will also receive a $2,000 cash prize and complimentary registration for the 2015 Adelaide Fringe if they would like to stage an exhibition of their work.

All design submissions must be made online at www.adelaidefringe.com.au.
The poster design must in some way interpret the theme of the 2015 Adelaide Fringe – Experience Something New. The design may be in any medium and in any art form such as digital, illustration, painting, sculpture or photography, however the final entry must be two dimensional.
Please keep in mind that the final design will form the basis of the 2015 Adelaide Fringe marketing material and must be suitable for reproduction.
The winning poster design will be used across the city in various forms from very large street posters and vinyl banners to very small logos and advertisements. Entries must be received by 12am, Sunday 7 September and must be accompanied by an official Fringe poster entry form that can be downloaded at www.adelaidefringe.com.au.
There is no entry fee and as is the open access nature of the Adelaide Fringe, anyone is invited to submit an entry into this competition, whether you live in Australia or overseas.
Entries will be judged by the Adelaide Fringe Director, Creative Producer and the Head of Marketing & Business Development. The winner will be notified by 26 September, 2014.
The winning entry will be featured at a media poster launch in October 2014 that the winning artist will be invited to attend.
Your original design may incorporate a range of materials and mediums, but your final entry must still be a two-dimensional representation of these ideas.
Entries must be received by 12am, Sunday 7 September with a completed entry form.
The poster must be suitable for reproduction in both colour and black & white.
The poster must be suitable for reproduction in a number of ways from the very large scale (eg, street posters, vinyl banners) to very small (eg, postage-stamp size for logos, advertisements press and online, and stationery).
The winning design will need to demonstrate flexibility so that it can be used in full or in part, in a variety of creative applications, for example; t-shirts; the Adelaide Fringe website; and on a range of printed material, such as program booklets, signage and the FringeTIX box offices. Submissions are to be made using the online entry form (found at www.adelaidefringe.com.au) in PDF or jpg format only (max 5 MB).
The winner will be required to provide a layered Photoshop or InDesign version of the poster with a minimum resolution of 300DPI at A1 size (594x841mm) or a scalable vector/EPS file – please keep this in mind when creating your submission.
The winning design will be used in conjunction with the 2015 Adelaide Fringe logo. If you wish to demonstrate how this might work in your design download the logo suite here. If you use any images you haven’t created yourself you must own the copyright for the images or have permission to use them in your design.
