Ballads By Candlelight

Music • Performance
This show, presented by Australia's undisputed masters of contemporary vocal harmony will impact you in a significant way. The beautiful St Peter's Cathedral and its audiences have witnessed the amazing voices of this group soar, intermingle and dance around the historic arches of the cathedral's ceiling for the last nine years. Now a stalwart of the Adelaide Fringe, 'Ballads by Candlelight' has understandably become one of the Fringe's most popular and memorable musical experiences. A previous winner of the Fringe's 'Best Music' award, this show will take you through the gamut of emotions - you'll laugh, cry, ponder, empathise and hope, as The Idea of North leads you through a beautifully curated repertoire of moving ballads. This is one show that will stay with you for a long time.

*Please note: due to an unforeseen change in circumstances, vocal percussionist Kaichiro Kitamura is no longer able to perform with The Idea of North at the February 23 Ballads shows. He will, however, be front and centre for Groove Sessions on March 10*

Presented by: The Idea of North

The Idea of North are entirely deserved of their reputation as Australia's most awarded, best loved and longest running contemporary vocal group. This multi-ARIA Award-winning ensemble will astound and move with their incredible arrangements, flawless harmonies and dry, deadpan Aussie sense of humour. You'll not only experience world-class a cappella singing, but such is the group's down-to-earth nature, you'll also leave feeling as though you've know each member of the group for years.
Since forming originally in 1993, there have been only a few changes to the line up over the years, but each time the group seems to improve their sound, their blend, their musicianship, and now, as a quintet, The Idea of North is in it's most exciting and versatile incarnation yet. Simply not to be missed.
