Carried Away

Theatre and Physical Theatre
Australian Premiere

Crib, check! Nappies, check! Weird breast-pump thing, check! Losing mind, check! Mum on speed-dial, quickest route to the hospital mapped... check! check!

Phoebe discovers she's pregnant again after a miscarriage and wants to talk. You're invited into the home and head of a mid-twenties girl frantically trying to figure out what it means to be a woman, to be an adult... to just be a functioning human.

An honest conversation about struggling with unspoken problems and the people who help us on our journeys. A fresh, frank new solo-show about big decisions, bad advice, and making it up as you go along.

"Sensitive and well-observed piece with a sharp, contemporary sense of humour, fully deserving of the emotional response it earns for its subject matter." The Scotsman

Presented by: Joanne Hartstone & Nightingale Productions

Nightingale Productions consists of Lizzie Grace and Alexandra Simonet. They are both actors that met whilst training at Mountview Academy Of Theatre Arts in London and they then went on to work with Patch of Blue Theatre. Their passion for telling stories that are unspoken began when, with Patch of Blue, they wrote ‘We Live By The Sea,’ a play about an autistic teenage girl. This drive pushed them into writing ‘Carried Away,’ which came into existence earlier this year after they discovered that both of their mothers had gone through multiple miscarriages. They were astounded by the lack of conversation in today’s society about the topic. Determined to get the conversation going and to let women who have miscarried know they are not alone, the girls set upon writing ‘Carried Away.’
