Learn, laugh & reflect... Knowing EU takes a light-hearted but incisive look at the facts & foibles of the EU. The good, the bad and the ugly and why the UK decided on Brexit.
You’ll laugh, you’ll cry and you’ll discover more about the options for Brexit and the UK’s future relationship with the EU and the rest of the world. You’ll be bemused by the way the EU works (and doesn’t), by how much it costs and where the money goes, and amused by the truth behind the facts (i.e. lies) presented during the referendum.
The format is a humorous illustrated lecture with a range of Powerpoint slides, including a number of multiple choice questions & answers, interspersed with European jokes and examples of the way simple EU actions have continuously been (mis)interpreted by the media. The aim is to have a short discussion at the end of each show. The show is presented by Geoffrey Brown, an Australian who has been living in the UK and working on EU issues for over 20 years.

Geoffrey Brown was born in Australia. He is now based in the UK where he is Director of Euclid, the UK’s leading independent agency advising on EU funding for the arts, culture, heritage and creative industries. Euclid was the official European Commission Cultural Contact Point (CCP) for the UK (1999-2009). Euclid currently provides the Creative.Partners website (helping organisations find partners across the EU and beyond), organises regular conferences & seminars across the UK, and provides advice and guidance to help those applying to EU funding programmes. Euclid publishes its own research studies and has undertaken consultancy projects for the European Commission, the Council of Europe, European networks, the British Council, Creative Scotland and other UK arts funding bodies and local authorities. In the light of Brexit, he successfully launched his new performing career at the Edinburgh Fringe 2016.
