Narrative of a Slave Woman (CANCELLED)

Theatre and Physical Theatre • Music
Australian Premiere
Inspired by the Slave Narratives from the Federal Writer's Project of 1936, this performance is a presentation of concert arrangements of Negro Spirituals interwoven with spoken slave narratives in a new kind of lecture-recital format. This is the journey of a single woman, born into slavery and living to tell her story, post-Emancipation Proclamation.

Artists Dr. LaToya Lain and Dr. Casey Robards have presented this program at universities and churches throughout the United States and most recently at the International Congress of Vocal Teachers in Stockholm.

Performing spirituals combined with extensive narrative puts this music in context and highlights the importance of
these marvellous works. This event will be informative, enlightening and moving.
