Roo Panes

Music • Blues & Roots

Since releasing his debut album ‘Little Giant’ in 2014 to critical acclaim, and his new album ‘Paperweights’, Roo Panes has racked up an excess of 35 million plays on Spotify and over a million total YouTube views. Uncut describes him as a "Britfolk pin up" whose music "Taps a deep well of folk heritage."

"Panes finds a positive message in thoughts best left in the dark of night." Q Magazine.

The natural beauty and open spaces of his native Dorset, and those of the Lake District, have become woven into the fabric of his craft. The peace, the silent solitude: it’s here that Panes feels more alive with ideas than he does in the hubbub of his adopted home of London. His is a deep voice, one that sounds aged beyond its years, telling of timeless stories, endless heartache and forever love.

Pane’s music is succinct, honest songwriting, from a place of deep personal expression, resonating with universal truths and values. It asks that we all find the right way to see the world around us.

An English singer/songwriter who first caught the public's attention via a campaign for luxury British fashion house Burberry, Andrew "Roo" Panes' introspective lyrics, soulful voice, and deft fingerpicking have drawn comparisons to artists like Nick Drake, George Ezra, and Laura Marling. Born into an artistic family in Wimborne, Dorset, Panesearned his Hundred Acre Wood-inspired nickname after falling into a river as a child, much like Winnie-the-Pooh did during a heated game of Pooh Sticks. Panes released a series of well-received independent EPs, Once (2012), Weight of the World (2012), and Land of the Living (2013), before issuing a proper full-length debut, Little Giant, in 2014. His sophomore studio LP, Paperweights, followed in early 2016.
