VIOLET

Theatre and Physical Theatre • Musical Theatre

Multi award winning theatre company Davine Interventionz presents an all-new Adelaide production of the award winning musical VIOLET. The story is centred in 1964 and focuses on a young woman who bears a scar on her face from an accident when she was a child. She is in search of a miracle. Boarding a Greyhound bus that is traveling to Tulsa, Oklahoma she hopes to be physically healed by a famous TV preacher.

On her journey of self-discovery, she meets two soldiers, who soon become her friends. As the young adult's journey advances, so does their understanding of many important lessons and choices about life and growing up.

Throughout the musical, Violet flashes back to childhood memories, with her father, whom she condemns as totally responsible for the accident.

Ultimately, Violet experiences a miracle healing that is more than she was searching for.

VIOLET is a big Country & Gospel style musical by award winning writer Jeanine Tesori (Thoroughly Modern Millie, Shrek the musical).

Presented by: Davine Interventionz Productions

Davine Interventionz Productions (a play on my name) is an entirely NOT FOR PROFIT run community theatre project.

In 2013 I began my community theatre company with a simple vision; to produce premiere productions of musicals, in Adelaide, during festivals that would otherwise not play to an Adelaide audience. Often these musicals have smaller casts and, as they are relatively unknown, are bigger risks. Until this application I have funded these musicals myself, they have been critically acclaimed and have won various awards including;

2014: Xanadu – Won Best Musical Award (Amateur - Adelaide Theatre Guide Awards)
2015: The Story Of My Life – Won Best Musical (Amateur - Theatre Association of SA)
2016: The Story of My Life & The Light In The Piazza – Nominated for Best Musical
(Adelaide Theatre Guide) – Winners are yet to be announced.

In 2017 I am proud to be premiering the musical Violet, by multi Tony award winning writer Jeanine Tesori.
