Weekend Jazz Fest

Music • Jazz
Three concerts of the songs of jazz from the 1920s to 1980s. Two vocalists harmonise backed by an upbeat combo will present a foot tapping and joyful concert. SaM concerts at the 2017 Fringe were sell-outs and happy events. At Mt Compass, the crowd stayed on and danced to some old time Rock 'n' Roll. SaM has prepared a new program for 2018 but you may remember some of the songs from 2017.

Friday 9 March 7:30 pm, Mt Compass War memorial Hall (well known as the Mt Compass Supper Club). A three hour concert in a cabaret setting. Food and drink on sale but BYO also. Tickets $25 from FringeTix and book a table on 0427386220.

Sat 10 March 7 pm & Sun 11 March, 2:30 pm at Burnside Library. Two, two hour concerts of all the old jazz songs. A refreshment is included for $25.

Presented by: SaM

SaM was formed in 2009 from a jazz club in Sydney's north. The four members have performed in Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne and regional NSW. We used to do big corporate events but these days we prefer jazz festivals, local markets and fairs, and concerts where we can develop our music, include our growing following, and have fun. We were so happy with the response of audiences at the 2017 Fringe in Adelaide that we had to return in 2018 with a new concert. SaM has recorded three CD alums, including one of our 2017 Fringe Concerts.
Marian Landers and Sonya Doyle, the vocalists, have sung together for many years and are well known cantors and singers around the north of Sydney.
John Gunn (drums) and Dennis Harris (Keyboard) have played together since the late 1970s.

Glass of refreshment and a light snack included in ticket price (Burnside Library sessions ONLY)
