Nimbus Trio - Novum
Nimbus Trio present an all new music program including works from their new
album Novum. Novum explores the sound world of composer Kitty Xiao from
2013 to 2016. Her works for flute/alto flute/bass flute/bass clarinet,
violin and piano explore new expression for piano trio and evoke images of
renowned Australian photographers Jane Brown and Narelle Autio. The works
explore themes of human potential in face of itself and the world.

Melbourne based contemporary classical group Nimbus Trio consist of composer/pianist Kitty Xiao, flautist Jessica Laird and violinist Chloe Sanger. Lovers of new music, the ensemble commissions and performs new music of Australian and international composers including Kitty’s original compositions. The name Nimbus was derived from Kitty’s award winning composition Nimbus that brought the group together in 2013. A Nimbus cloud carries potential of change and reflects the group’s dedication to creative collaboration and its potential within emerging Australian classical music. Nimbus Trio made their debut at Deakin Edge in Federation Square and the performance was broadcasted live on 3MBS. Nimbus Trio have just released their first album Novum as a represented artist of Move Records label.
