Co-produced by Altar Girl and Panopticon Collective

Following the sold out season at Melbourne Fringe Festival, Altar Girl is a modern day adaption of Shakespeare’s Othello told from the perspective of teenage girls at the biggest party of the year seeking revenge and power using weapons of sexuality, pills and vicious gossip.

Altar Girl is a highly collaborative and immersive piece, exploring the frightening and violent nature that is coming of age and coming out.

In the space of one night Lara’s dangerous game of chess finds the whole audience implicated in her schemes.

The hierarchy will fall, but will she go with it?"

Presented by: Rottenhoney

Rottenhoney is a newly created Melbourne theatre company from emerging theatre creator, Alanah Guiry.

The focus of the company is on collaboration and creating thought provoking pieces that fully examine the capacity of the human spirit. As a young female director, she aims to make theatre more accessible, breaking down traditional theatre conventions and focusing on youth themes to encourage the younger generation to come to plays. She generally works with a young cast and crew to create a safe and comfortable environment of creativity.

"I learnt that honey doesn’t go rotten and I wish the same for my own soul."
