Blues at the Fringe

Music • Blues & Roots

The blues exists in Adelaide in all of its glorious variations. The Adelaide Roots and Blues Association is proud to present 4 of Adelaide’s finest acts.

Friday 17th February, Lazy Eye and J.J Fields.
Lazy Eye are a multi-award winning Hammond organ trio featuring singer songwriter Evan Whetter on organ and harmonica, Erica Graf on guitar and Mario Marino on drums.
Think soul drenched blues and B.B. King sharing a scotch with Booker T at the crossroads after midnight!
Supported by legendary Adelaide guitarist, the great J.J Fields (Sav).

Friday 17th March, Steve Brown Band and Jesse Deane-Freeman.
The Voice and The Band, an unbeatable combination! Steve Brown has a voice that sounds like a pint of Guinness and the Steve Brown Band is an award-winning line-up that features Dave Rhodes (guitar), Denis Surman (bass), Peter Martin (keyboards), Jeff Algra (drums). You'll not hear better Blues and Roots music in the 'Deep South'!
Supported by delta blues master Jesse Deane-Freeman.

The Adelaide Roots and Blues Association (ARBA) was formed in Adelaide, South Australia in 2013 and was incorporated on the 4th of December, 2014. It has not-for-profit status and the following broad aims:
1. To support and promote South Australian roots and blues artists locally, nationally and internationally.
2. To promote and foster a wider appreciation of roots and blues music across South Australia.
Our signature events include our weekly "Gumbo Room Blues Jam" held every Thursday night in the front bar of The Governor Hindmarsh Hotel and our annual live music competition, the "Memphis Blues Challenge".
Each year we send the two winning acts from the "memphis Blues Challenge" to Memphis Tennessee, to compete in the International Blues challenge.
ARBA also presents the "Blues Album of the Year" and Roots Album of the Year" awards on an annual basis.
